Boy Scouts of America ran Camp Kooroq. Men who administered camp are shown here: r-l, Edgar G. Stowell, the Scout executive for about six years; Verne Adamson, a 1921 graduate of Ames High and called "Doc" because his father was a local osteopathic physician (Dr. James Adamson/603 Burnett); and the camp cook (name unknown). In background is shown the mess hall which was built of canvas stretched over a rustic wood frame. it had a dirt floor and the tables were built of rough barn boards. The cook's shanty adjoined this structure where the boys ate. Between 75 and 80 boys attended the camp over a four-week period (each cam session was one week in length).
