This ad appeared in the 1894 Iowa State Bomb (yearbook of Iowa State College). Dr. Hunt came to Ames in the 1870s. He studied dentistry with first dentist in Ames, Dr. Andre. He acquired his practice by becoming Andre's apprentice. Then he bought the practice from Andre. Hunt built the house at Douglas which would later become the Ames Hotel. Dr. Hunt, who died in about 1919, practiced dentistry on the first floor of his residence on corner of Fifth and Douglas.
