Three Ames families - the Browns, the Tildens, and the Loughrans - held a picnic at Hannum's Mill on the south bank of the Skunk River north of Ames on July 4, 1910. Pictured from the left: Lydia Brown, Margaret Brown, Dorothy Loughran, Ruth Tilden, Lou Tilden, Mary Brown, Harry Brown (partially hidden), Stephen Loughran, Lillian Loughran, Fred Tilden, Harriet Tilden [McJimsey], K. W. Brown, Emma Tilden, and Harriet Duncan (Ruth Tilden's mother). The children lined up in front of Harry Brown, from top to bottom are: Stephen Loughran, Jr., Ted Bellemy, Kendrick Loughran, Clark Tilden, and Edmund Loughran II.
