The A.M.E.S. Quartet entertains during an Iowa State College football halftime. This was during a period when the teams and activities were identified as "Ames." The team designation was changed to "Iowa State" in 1929 when the athletic letter "I" replaced the earlier "A." A popular college refrain of this time: "A-M-E-S--I-O-W-A--the girls are the fairest, the boys are the squarest. . . so they say. . ." After 1929 all the schools songs had to be rewritten.
