A page of advertising from the Iowa State College directory, from around 1918. Cagwin's Drug Store operated at 225 Main Street in downtown Ames until 1931 and was owned by Joel E. Cagwin. His original store burned in 1917 in the fire which also claimed the Odd Fellows building. Haverly Transfer line operated from 216 Duff Avenue and was owned by Max Haverly. The Puritan Restaurant at 223 Main was owned and operated by John Paulos.

Advertising from the Iowa State College directory, around 1918. Harry and Zac Dunlap owned the local Ford automotive dealership at 329 Main Street (corner of Main and Kellogg Avenue), known as Dunlap Motor Company. The Varsity Boot Shop, at 2516 Lincoln Way, was a shoe repair establishment operated by a J. Jacobs.

Advertising, from around 1918, probably from an Iowa State College directory. Cliff's Place was a small luncheonette run by Cliff Shockley at 124 Main Street. Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. was located at 413 Northwestern where it cornered on Grand Avenue. Duitch Bros., located at 437 Lincoln Way was an early Ford dealership. Ochampaugh & Chilson, owned by Simeon Ochampaugh and Albert L. Chilson (who was the manager) was a plumbing business located at 126 Main Street.
