Kate Shelley in later life (after her heroic girlhood adventure saving the train near a washed-out bridge). Here she is shown standing next to the train depot in Moingona (Iowa) where she served as station master from 1903 until her death in 1912 at age 47. This photograph was used in a 1981 television program about the legend of Kate Shelley. (See 16.76.1 and 119.654.1-2 for the enlargements of details of this photograph as they appeared on television.)
