The interior of Judisch Brothers Drug Store, located on the north side of Main Street just west of the Tilden Store in downtown Ames. Farwell Brown recalls that when he was a boy in the second and third decades of the twentieth century, textbooks for the Ames public schools were distributed through this drug store. (He does not know why this arrangement existed.) George Judisch is the tall man on the right. The other man in this photograph has not been identified, but he was, no doubt, a store employee. George Judisch and his brother, A. L. Judisch, opened the store in 1894 when George was 23 years old. The store operated until 1955. George Judisch died on February 2, 1959 at the age of 88.
