Enlargement of a portion of 39.196.1-2, in order to show area of future Memorial Union (construction 1927-28). Buildings occupying that site in 1926 were the old veterinary building (in lower right corner), constructed in 1884-85 in an area later to be occupied by the Pine Room of the Memorial Union. After the Veterinary Department moved to the Quadrangle in 1912, the old structure was used by Buildings and Grounds and was known as the Carpentry Shop until razed in 1926. Building in the center of the picture (by "x" in the road) was Music Hall (originally Sanitary Hall). Agriculture Hall (built in 1906-09) is seen in the upper right center. It was named Curtiss Hall in June 1944 to honor long-time Dean of Agriculture, Charles F. Curtiss. See also: 39.196.1-2; 39.196.3; 39.198.1; 39.198.2

Enlargement of a portion of 39.196.1-2 showing Agriculture Hall (Curtiss) in lower right center. Notice the lack of incoming roads from town (no Sixth Street extension, for example). C & NW train can be seen heading west in the background. Mostly farm land and agricultural buildings are seen beyond the campus buildings. See Also: 39.196.1-2; 39.196.3; 39.197.2; 39.198.2
