A modern (@1986) photo of the Lincoln Highway concrete maerker on the corner of the old Highway 30 and Airport Road (north and south past the National Guard Airport, east of Boone). It was at this location that the brigade led by Dwight Eisenhower stopped for a noon meal in 1919 in the midst of its transcontinental surveying trip following World War I.
