"New Passenger Station - Magnificient New Passenger Station at Ames Almost Completed. The Old Shed that Served for Depot since Advent of Railroad into Ames Soon Thing of Past" read headline in September 4, 1900 Ames Times. built at cost of $30,000, the C & NW spent $100,000 after WW II to remodel. Jerry Sexton of ISC Horticulture Dept. was in charge of gardens and pathways. Ames' first water tower in background stood just north of alley next to old Town Hall on Kellogg. Photo by C. R. Quade.
