Mertel Edington's first grade class at Beardshear School in the fall of 1917. Front row on left is Mary Jane Williams, daughter of the editor of the Ames Tribune. Front row center, girl with large hair ribbon is Louise Bystol whose parents operated a dry cleaning business. To the right of Louise (third child from right in front) is Farwell Brown. In back row of children, second from left is Harold Sills and to his right (third child from left in back) is his brother Eugene Sills.
