In 1927 the Chautauqua Auditorium was moved from its original site near 13th and Maxwell Avenue to the Lincoln Way site where it was converted to the Ames high Field House. It was a center for Ames High School athletics until 1960 and it was sold in 1965 and removed when the Lincoln Shopping center was developed. From the 1929 "Ames High Spirit."
