Chautauqua, the annual summer family cultural program in Ames, moved from a field to a permanent auditorium in the north part of what was later to be the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Auditorium was dedicated in 1912. William Jennings Bryan and Billy Sunday drew record crowds at the auditorium.
