for infants to teens, families and adults. All programs are free.
The regular programs listed below begin September 6 unless noted otherwise. They will NOT take place on the following:

Babytalk
For Children, 0-walkers, and an Adult
This program is designed for pre-walkers (newborns to around one year old) and their caregivers. 20 minutes of books, songs, bounces, action rhymes, and baby sign language will stimulate your baby while you learn how to incorporate early literacy skills in your day-to-day activities together. Older siblings are welcome and may want to bring a stuffed animal. Networking with other parents and baby playtime after the program is encouraged.

Toddler Time
For 0- to 3-year-olds and an Adult
Join Dewey Bear for 20-25 active minutes of music, books, and interactive early literacy activities. This program focuses on children ages 3 and younger, accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Family Craft Storytime
For Families with Children of All Ages
This 45-minute program consists of 30 minutes of storytime fun which will build listening, language, and literacy skills through music, rhymes, visual aids, and movement. Storytime is followed by a related craft activity that often emphasizes the process, not the finished product. Families with children of all ages are welcome to attend.
Thursdays: 10:00am & 7:00pm, Farwell T. Brown Auditorium
(Family Movie Night will be held in place of Family Craft Storytime on the 3rd Thursday of each month.)

Family Storytime
For Families With Children of All Ages
Each week this 30-minute program is the same storytime plan presented in Family Craft Storytime, only without the craft.
Saturdays: 11:00am, Davidson Storytelling Room
Wednesday After-school Programs (Beginning in October)
Wild on Wednesdays (WoW) for 3rd- through 5th-graders
This 60-minute program for 3rd -5th graders will feature books, games, activities, guest presenters, and of course, lots of excitement!
1st Wednesday of each month: 2:45pm, Farwell T. Brown Auditorium
K-2 Club for Kindergarteners through 2nd-graders
This 45-minute program for kindergarteners through 2nd-graders will include stories, songs, games, and activities for our younger elementary friends.
2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month: 2:45 pm, Farwell T. Brown Auditorium
K-2 Club Drop-in
Stop in for some self-directed fun that may include things like scavenger hunts, games, and puzzles.
1st, 3rd, & 5th Wednesday of each month: 2:45pm, Davidson Storytelling Rm.
Family Movie Night @ the Library (Beginning in October)
For Families with Children of All Ages
Enjoy a feature length family movie and free popcorn.
3rd Thursday of each month: 6:30pm, Farwell T. Brown Auditorium
Other World Language Storytimes
These programs feature a variety of stories, songs, movies, and more presented in the following languages by native- and English-speaking volunteers. All foreign language storytimes are held in the Davidson Storytelling Room.

APL's Battle of the Books Clubs (Beginning in October)
Here’s your chance to get a head start on reading for the Ames Public Library’s Battle of the Books! Each age group will gather separately once a month to have some tasty snacks and a great discussion about the books. We’ll cover the basics of each book (main characters, plot, etc). There will also be a chance to talk about what you liked or disliked. Book clubs will meet every month leading up to the competition. All clubs will meet in the Community Room (except for the first 5th grade BoB Club which will be held in the Davidson Storytelling Room).
5th Grade
3rd Thursday of each month, 4:00pm
6th Grade
4th Wednesday of each month, 4:00pm
7th-8th Grade
2nd Monday of each month, 4:00pm
