We connect you to the world of ideas through a variety of programming
for infants to teens, families and adults. All programs are free.
Regular programming usually takes place every week throughout the school year. There are a few exceptions that include the weeks of October 18-24, Dec. 20-Jan. 9, and March 14-20. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Babytalk
For Children, 0-walkers, and an Adult
This program is designed for prewalkers (newborns to around one year old) and their caregivers. 20 minutes of books, songs, bounces, action rhymes, and baby sign language will stimulate your baby while you learn how to incorporate early literacy skills in your day-to-day activities together. Older siblings are welcome and may want to bring a stuffed animal. Networking with other parents and baby playtime after the program is encouraged.

Toddler Time
For 0- to 3-Year-olds and an Adult
Join Dewey Bear for 20-25 active minutes of music, books, and interactive early literacy activities. This program focuses on children ages 3 and younger, accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Family Storytime
For Families With Children of All Ages
This 30-minute program of interactive fun will build listening, language, and literacy skills through music, rhymes, visual aids, and movement. Children ages 3 and younger must have a caregiver present.

Family Craft Storytime
For Families with Children of All Ages
Held on Thursdays and Fridays in the Farwell T. Brown Auditorium, this is the family storytime of the week enhanced with a related craft activity that often emphasises the process, not the finished product. Families with children of any age are encouraged to attend.

WOW (Wild On Wednesdays)
For Children in Kindergarten through 5th Grade
Kindergartners through fifth graders are invited to Ames Public Library on Wednesday afternoons during the school year. We’ll do a variety of activities including books, art projects, games, special presenters, and more. Program runs 45-60 minutes.
