Storytime at the Fire Department

  • Fire Fighter SmylesFriday, July 25 at 1pm at Fire Station #1 (13th St.) and
  • Friday, August 15 at 10am at Fire Station #2 (Welch Ave.)

All ages are invited to join Ames Public Library and Ames Fire Department as we share fire safety stories, make a craft, and enjoy a tour of the station.

Buggy @ the Bookmobile

Get buggy at two special Bookmobile stops this month! Visit the Bookmobile at a special stop at Crawford Elementary School and the Daley neighborhood park in west Ames. We’ll share an outdoor storytime at 10:30am at both stops!

Hot Dog Dinner Theater

Tuesday, August 12 in the Farwell T. Brown Auditorium

  • 12 noon lunch with show at 12:30 or
  • 5pm dinner with show at 5:30pm

Finish your summer with magic and a meal. Join us for a feast of hot dogs followed by a magical performance by Rick Eugene.

Balloon Animal Workshop

Tuesday, August 12, 2:30-3:30pm, Community Room
Nine-year-olds and up, learn how to make balloon critters during this hour of hands-on activities. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Call (515) 239-5644 to sign-up.

Summer Reading Program

June 1 - August 17, 2008

 

Catch the reading bug this summer by participating in our reading programs! Ames Public Library has something for everybody!

By reading board books or adult books, magazines or graphic novels, fiction or nonfiction, you'll capture the fun and earn some great prizes too!

Children, teens, and adults are invited to pick up a reading record for this summer's incentive program at the Library or Bookmobile beginning Sunday, June 1.
