A classic Australian World War I saga, this miniseries captures the hopes and heartaches of innocent country boys as they embark on the greatest and worst adventure of their lives, facing the filthy deprivations and shocking savagery of trench warfare.

Australia (DVD ACTION AUS)  165 min.  2009. 

In northern Australia during early World War II, an English aristocrat inherits a cattle station the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she joins forces with a rough-hewn stock-man to drive 2,000 head of cattle across the country's most unforgiving land, only to face the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese, who had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.

Beneath Hill 60 (DVD ACTION BEN)  122 min.  2010. 

This film tells the story of the Australian miners and soldiers who tunneled under Hill 60 near Ypres, Belgium, and eventually broke through to create a new frontline that enabled the march to Berlin.

The Boys Are Back (DVD DRAMA BOY)  104 min.  2009. 

After the unexpected death of his wife, a sportswriter is consumed with grief and completely unprepared to raise two boys. Determined to bring joy back into their lives, he takes a 'just say yes' approach to parenting. And as freedom reigns, chaos ensues.  The trio together shoulder the responsibilities of running the household without a female influence.

This lavish romantic drama charts the lives of three women who escape the gloom of post-WWII Holland for what they hope will be a better life in New Zealand. Ada, Marjorie, and Esther become fast friends during the long flight taking them to their waiting husbands. Upon arrival, they part ways to start their new lives, but their paths continue to cross with chance meetings resulting in adultery, betrayal, and near tragedy leading up to a reunion 50 years later.

Broken Hill (DVD DRAMA BRO)  102 min.  2009. 

Raised on a sheep ranch, Tommy dreams of becoming a great musician, but has to do community service when his antics to impress a new classmate backfire. Given a second chance, he finds a way to beat the odds, win her affection, and conduct the concert of his life.

Bush Christmas (DVD FAMILY BUS)  77 min.  1947.  

Two children, heading home to Australia for Christmas, encounter a group of thieves. They accidentally give them the information needed to steal their father's horses. The children realize their mistake and then try to save the horses.

An Australian who hunts crocodiles, stares down giant water buffaloes, and drinks mere mortals under the table, faces the ultimate test – a trip to New York City.

Take a look at some of the unusual animals found only in Australia: kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, and wombats.  Some crocodiles and native species of North America are also featured.

December Boys (DVD DRAMA DEC)  105 min.  2007. 

In the late 1960s, four orphan boys with December birthdays go for a holiday on the South Australian coast. But these teens have much more in common. With no hopes of ever joining a family, they form their own familial bonds. Then the unexpected news comes that a young couple may adopt one of them, and the long-time pals suddenly share a rivalry to be the chosen one.

Gallipoli (DVD ACTION GAL)  111 min.  1981. 

Two friends are involved with the battle between Australians and the German-occupied Turks in this commentary on the wastes of war.

The Great Barrier Reef (577.789 DVD GRE)  38 min.  1999. 

Originally produced as an IMAX motion picture, this film displays not only the beauty of the reef, but information about its complex ecosystem, symbiotic relationships, and the extreme fragility of its environment.

Griff the Invisible (DVD COMEDY GRI)  93 min.  2010. 

Griff, a shy and awkward office worker by day, assumes the identity of a superhero at night. Griff's secret is jeopardized when he meets Melody, a cute but unconventional daydreamer. She is fascinated by his idiosyncrasies, which are equal only to her own. This film won an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts(AACTA) award for Best Original Screenplay.

He Died with a Felafel in His Hand (DVD COMEDY HE)  107 min.  2001. 

Danny has moved into his 47th shared house, this time in Brisbane, and the flatmates have not improved. One lives in a closet, another in a tent in the living room, and, before Danny takes off for shared house no. 48 in Melbourne, he will have endured satanic worshipers, skinheads, and the perennially ubiquitous cane toad. No wonder he is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Heavenly Creatures (DVD DRAMA HEA)  99 min.  1994. 

Based on an actual crime involving mystery writer Ann Perry in adolescence, this is the story of two bright and imaginative teenage girls who form a bond, creating a private fantasy world.  Disturbed by the intensity of the friendship, their parents threaten to keep them apart. The girls devise a plan that leads to shocking consequences.

Her Majesty (DVD FAMILY HER)  105 min.  2004. 

A girl’s unusual friendship with an outcast old woman changes a community. As a rural New Zealand town prepares for a visit from Queen Elizabeth, the townspeople pressure the old woman to sell her shack that is a community embarrassment.  It is based on a true story.

The Hunter (DVD ACTION HUN)  101 min.  2011. 

Martin is a skilled and ruthless mercenary, posing as a scientist in the Tasmanian wilderness on a hunt for a tiger believed to be extinct. Hired by a company that wants the tiger's genetic material, Martin sets up camp at a farmhouse, where he stays with a family, becoming increasingly close to them. Martin is led down a path of unforeseen dangers, complicating his deadly mission.

Innocence (DVD DRAMA INN)  96 min.  2002. 

After more than forty years apart, a couple embarks on an affair as reckless and intense as when they were young lovers.

Kangaroo Jack (DVD FAMILY KAN)  89 min.  2003. 

Charlie and Louis are from Brooklyn.  Charlie's stepfather, Sal, is a criminal who sends Charlie and Louis to Australia to meet and deliver a large amount of cash to a Mr. Smith.  En route to the outback, Charlie and Louis accidentally run over a kangaroo, and they dress it in sunglasses and Louis' jacket for snapshots.  Since the animal wasn't dead, it hops away − taking the mob money with it.

Kangaroo Jack: G’day U.S.A. (DVD FAMILY KAN)  75 min.  2004. 

Kangaroo Jack is kidnapped and his friends chase after the poachers to try to rescue him. The group stumbles upon a jewel heist, and now the FBI thinks that they are the crooks!

Kings in Grass Castles (DVD TV KIN)  200 min.  1998. 

After several family deaths, the Duracks flee the Irish famines of the 1840's for a better life in Australia, where they make a fortune raising Queensland cattle − only to lose it all in a property crash near the turn of the century. This is a saga of hatred and tragedy, wealth and romance that traces three generations of the Durack family.
