Kadosh (DVD FOREIGN KAD) 117 min. 1999.
Set in the Mea Sherim quarter of Jerusalem, the ultra-orthodox Kadosh explores a hermetic world almost never seen on the screen. For ten years the pious Rivka has devoted herself to her husband Meir, but their marriage is childless. Presumed barren, she is rejected in her community, which prizes children. The story relates the fate of Rivka and her sister Malka—in love with a man who fled the community to lead a secular life. An Amos Gitai film.
Kippur (DVD FOREIGN KIP) 123 min. 2000.
The film takes place during a day in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War in which Egypt and Syria launched attacks in Sinai and the Golan Heights. The day begins with quiet city streets, but ends with death and devastation of both body and mind.

Zaza is a 32-year-old Israeli bachelor, and his family wants to see him married. Tradition dictates that Zaza has to choose a young virgin. She must be beautiful and from a good family, preferably rich. Zaza’s parents drag him to meet potential brides and their families. He plays along with the family, advocates of the suffocating traditions of their Georgian Jewish heritage. Zaza always manages to get out of being engaged. His parents don’t know that Zaza is already in love. Judith is sensuous, strong, and intriguing – and a divorcee with a 6-year-old daughter. Zaza has kept Judith a secret from his family, and he must choose between respect for tradition and the love of his life.
