Barking Dogs Never Bite (DVD FOREIGN BAR) 110 min. 2010. An unemployed and unmotivated grad student, looking for a job as a professor, is driven to distraction by a yapping dog on the block of his apartment complex. In a fit of anger he takes action to deal with his tormentor, an action that will come to haunt him.
A Bizarre Love Triangle (DVD FOREIGN BIZ) In Korean, Cantonese, and Mandarin, with English or Chinese captions. 90 min. 2002. Eun-hee and Keum-sook's love is challenged when Keum-sook is imprisoned for Eun-hee's crimes. Soon Eun-hee falls for Keum-sook's female friend, Doo-chan. Feeling betrayed, Keum-sook tries to end this love triangle.
The Bow (DVD FOREIGN BOW) 90 min. 2005. A 60-year-old man, who raised a girl since she was six years old, plans to marry her when she turns 17. He will do anything to protect her and she is content until a young man introduces her to a world beyond.
Chi-hwa-seon/Painted Fire (DVD FOREIGN CHI) 116 min. 2002. In a time of political and social unrest in 19th century Korea, an uncouth, self-taught painter explores his talent amidst the repressive world around him.
Christmas in August (DVD FOREIGN CHR) In Korean or dubbed Cantonese, with English or Chinese captions. 97min. 1998. Terminally ill Jung Won decides to spend his last days at his photo shop. There he meets Darim, a meter reader who drops by daily to develop pictures of parking violators. She becomes part of his daily routine, and he falls in love with her.
Chunhyang (DVD FOREIGN CHU) 120 min. 2000. Mongryong, the son of a governor in 18th century Korea, loves Chunhyang, the daughter of a proud former courtesan, and they secretly marry out of fear of reprisal. Trouble results when Mongryong is ordered to Seoul to finish his education, and a new, vindictive governor pursues Chunhyang and then imprisons her when she refuses his advances.
Daytime Drinking (DVD FOREIGN DAY) 120 min. 2008. After breaking up with his girlfriend, Hyuk-jin and his friends plan a trip to mend his broken heart. However, his friends have horrible hangovers and forget their plans. Over the next few days, he encounters a series of increasingly bizarre situations, most of them because of drinking. He must stop the world's worst hangover, get back to Seoul, and end this drunken odyssey.
Go-Ji-Jeon/The Front Line (DVD FOREIGN FRO) 133 min. 2011. Three million soldiers fought the Korean War, no longer remembering the reason, and died, wishing for the end of it, while negotiations for peace remained unresolved for 25 months following June 1951. The entire military force was concentrated in a battle for the hills. The war continued for 37 months, and the armistice negotiations continued for two years and two months during the war. It is estimated that four million died.
The Good the Bad the Weird (DVD FOREIGN GOO) In Korean, Japanese or Mandarin, with English or Spanish captions. 130 min. 2008. It's 1930s Manchuria, and greed is in the air. A manic outlaw, a nasty holy man, and a determined bounty hunter are in hot pursuit of a treasure map. Throw in Chinese gangsters, the Japanese army, and other rival factions in pursuit of the valuable map, and it ends in a big desert showdown.
The Housemaid (DVD FOREIGN HOU) 107 min. 2010. Eun-yi's presence attracts the amorous attentions of Hoon, the master of the house, and he begins an affair with her. Igniting the jealousy of an older maid who knows many family secrets, Eun-yi finds herself in the center of a familial power struggle.
In Between Days (DVD FOREIGN IN) 82 min. 2007. A teenager recently transplanted from South Korea to a snowbound North American city struggles to find her way in a strange land of new faces.
The Isle (DVD FOREIGN ISL) 89 min. 2000. A woman lives on a remote lake, selling food by day and her body by night. Her life changes when she becomes obsessed with a former police officer living on the lake.
J.S.A.: Joint Security Area (DVD FOREIGN JSA) 109 min. 2000. In the Korean DMZ, 16 shots are fired, and a North Korean soldier is killed. A South Korean soldier and a North Korean soldier give contradictory accounts of the event, and a witness attempts suicide rather than be questioned. A military team from the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission investigates the incident before it escalates.
Mother (DVD FOREIGN MOT) 129 min. 2009. A mother desperately tries to overturn her son’s murder conviction, find the killer who set him up, and have him released from prison.
My Beautiful Girl Mari (DVD FOREIGN MY) 80 min. 2002. In this animated feature, a young boy lives in a seaside village with his mother and grandmother. One day he finds a mysterious marble with the image of a beautiful girl inside, and he falls into a fantasy world.
My Son (DVD FOREIGN MY) 109 min. 2007. Lee Gang Sik is serving a life sentence for murder. For 15 years of good behavior, he is granted one-day to go visit his family. He is excited and nervous. His son has had a tough life, caring for his mother. Can Gang Sik make up for 15 years in one day?
My Way (DVD FOREIGN MY) In Korean or Japanese, with English captions. 143 min. 2012. This film is inspired by a true story. Jun Shik works on Tatsuo's grandfather's farm while Korea is colonized by Japan, but he dreams of running in the Tokyo Olympics marathon. Tatsuo also aims to be a marathon runner, so the two are rivals. War breaks out and they enlist in the army. They are captured by the Soviets, escape, but are recaptured by Germans and separated. In 1944, they meet again at Normandy.
Never Forever (DVD FOREIGN NEV) 102 min. 2008. After finding that her husband is unable to father children, a woman with a seemingly perfect marriage to a successful lawyer begins an affair with an immigrant worker in order to get pregnant.
Night and Day (DVD FOREIGN NIG) 144 min. 2012. A married man in his early 40s, Seong-nam, is an award-winning painter who, after getting busted for smoking pot with an American exchange student in Seoul, flees to Paris. Crashing in a hotel run by a Korean and unable to speak French, he wanders around Paris, trapped in his art and life. After he encounters an old flame, he enters the lives of two very different Korean expats.
Oasis (DVD FOREIGN OAS) 132 min. 2004. Jong-du, a young man just out of prison for manslaughter, is a social misfit. When released, he calls on the victim’s family. Before he is sent away, he sees Gong-ju, a young woman disabled by cerebral palsy. Both are used and abused by their families. They develop a friendship, he washes her hair, they go out, and he calms her fears of the dark. Is there a place for these inarticulate people?
