Ladrón Que Roba a Ladrón (DVD FOREIGN LAD)  100 min.  2008. 

The rule among criminals is: don't steal from your own kind. But extreme situations call for extreme measures. A bunch of thieves decide to rob one of the best in the business. The challenge is immense and the rewards could be great. Now all they have to do is pull it off and not get caught.

Ladrones (DVD FOREIGN LAD)  124 min.  2007. 

The main character is a nameless boy who was taught to steal wallets by his absent mother. He is able to do the trick effortlessly, using his "earnings" to survive while he seeks his mom. An antique store owner may provide a trace that will lead to her. First, he will have to pull off a few "jobs" for the owner, and he can't do it alone: enter a nameless girl who gets to learn the secret techniques.

Law of Desire (DVD FOREIGN LAW)  102 min.  1987. 

Though Pablo is in love with Juan, his affection is not reciprocated. After taking up with Antonio, Pablo temporarily loses his memory when a jealous Antonio seeks out Juan and violence occurs. When Pablo's memory returns, he discovers that Antonio has taken up with his sister Tina and he must rescue her, as well as face Antonio and his desire.

Tita and Pedro are in love, but cannot marry because of a family tradition. To be near Tita, Pedro marries her sister, and Tita, as the family cook, expresses her passion through preparing delectable dishes.

Lion’s Den (DVD FOREIGN LIO)  113 min.  2008. 

Julia gives birth to a son after she is sent to the penitentiary for her lover’s murder. Fellow inmate Marta becomes her ally, while her mother Sofia is her opponent. As Marta tries to teach Julia how to be a mother in the least appropriate place, her mother attempts to gain custody. What is better for the child, life with his mother in prison, or without her, but in freedom?

Liverpool (DVD FOREIGN LIV)  85 min.  2008. 

For the past 20 years, Farrel has worked as a seaman. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, he asks the captain of the freighter for shore leave when they reach the port of Ushuaia in southern Argentina. He wants to return to his birthplace and see if his mother is still alive. Farrel finds his mother, but someone else has become part of the family.

Madeinusa (DVD FOREIGN MAD)  108 min.  2006. 

Madeinusa is a girl aged 14 with a sweet Indian face who lives in an isolated village in the Cordillera Blanca Mountain range of Peru, a strange place marked by its religious fervor. From Good Friday at 3 p.m. to Easter Sunday, the whole village can do whatever it wants. During the two holy days sin does not exist because God is dead and can't see what is happening. Year after year, Madeinusa, her sister Chale, and her father Don Cayo, the Mayor and local big shot, maintain this tradition without question. Everything changes with the arrival of Salvador, a young geologist from Lima.

The Maid (DVD FOREIGN MAI)  94 min.  2009. 

Raquel has worked as a maid for a Santiago family for 23 years. On Raquel's birthday, the family forces her to join them for a celebration, but her discomfort is as strong as the family's need to acknowledge their dependence on her. When Raquel is unable to care for the house alone, she employs darkly comedic tricks to drive away any and all newly hired help.

Daniel is the first European with Down's syndrome to graduate from a university. He starts a social services job as an office worker and embarks on a romance with Laura, a neurotic but 'normal' co-worker, drawing the attention of both their co-workers and families. But these rebellious souls refuse to give in to the rules as they find friendship and love.

Fausta suffers from an illness transmitted through mother's milk by women who've been raped during Peru's civil wars. Stricken with fear, Fausta goes to extreme lengths to protect her own sexuality and safety. After her mother's sudden death, she embarks on a frightening journey for re-awakening, freedom, and wholeness.

Mojados: Through the Night (972.1 DVD MOJ)  70 min.  2004. 

Filmed over the course of ten days, this film follows four men into the world of illegal border-crossing from Mexico to the United States. Guapo, Oso, Tigre, and Viejo take the 120 mile cross-desert journey that has been traveled innumerable times by nameless immigrants who had a simple dream for a better life.  Together they fight dehydration and exhaustion while evading the U.S. Border Patrol through sub-zero temperature darkness of night, filled with barbed wire, brutal storms, and confrontation with death.

La Niña de Tus Ojos (DVD FOREIGN NIN)  In Castilian and neutral Spanish dialogue, with English captions.  121 min.  1998. 

Germany invites filmmakers to shoot an Andalusian musical in Berlin. Happy to leave the war, the Spanish troupe arrives. The only Andalusion-looking extras are gypsies and Jewish prisoners. When actress Macarena befriends a prisoner, the troupe must decide what is important: the movie or their lives.

Small-time grifters team up to steal a set of valuable counterfeit stamps known as the Nine Queens.

Nora’s Will (DVD FOREIGN NOR)  92 min.  2008. 

Before dying, Nora plans to make José, her ex-husband, take care of her funeral during Passover. Despite her meticulousness, she misses a mysterious photograph left under the bed, which leads to unexpected outcomes, reminding us that sometimes the greatest love stories are hidden in the smallest places. This is a heartwarming story of love, doubt, faith, and the importance of family.

El Norte (DVD FOREIGN NOR)  140 min.  1983. 

Mayan Indian peasants are tired of being thought of as nothing but manual laborers. They organize an improvement effort but are discovered by the Guatemalan army. After the army destroys their village and family, survivors Enrique and Rosa, a teenage brother and sister, decide to flee to the United States. With clandestine help from friends and traveling advice, they make their way to Los Angeles, where they try to make a new life as young, uneducated, and illegal immigrants.
