Topic -- Prohibition in Iowa

Presenter -- Linda McCann

Prohibition was the period of time in the U.S. when it was illegal to manufacture, transport or sell alcohol in the U.S. This included Iowa. So, why then, did Iowa farmers turn to using their corn to make moonshine? Presenter Linda McCann was able to speak with the children of moonshiners and bootleggers and will share their stories. She will also share newspaper stories specific to the Ames area.

Provided in partnership with Ames Public Library, and the Ames History Museum.
