A group of children from the Ames Congregational church, possibly the Sunday School (with three adult males--minister?, teachers?) taken in the 1870s, in the original church which stood on the corner of Sixth Street and Kellogg Avenue and which was replaced in 1900 by the present [2004] structure. A large percentage of the town's citizens were members of this church, the first to be built in Ames.
