One of the earliest photographs of the Story County Courthouse in Nevada, Iowa. The bond issue for its construction was passed in October of 1874; construction took place in 1875/76; and the building was dedicated on February 22, 1877. Photograph is looking at the southeast side of the courthouse. A new courthouse, its parts constructed around this building, opened on the site in October, 1969. The "1876 building" eventually was torn down.
