Lucian Cooper Tilden, born in Rochester, VT, November 15, 1868, eldest child of George Galen and Lydia Cooper Tilden. Moved with his parents to Ames in 1869. Married Ruth Duncan (July 20, 1897); two children, Clark D. (4/25/1898) and Harriet (McJimsey, 6/22/1902). Lucian headed the Tilden Store Company which was established by his father. After retirement he was postmaster of Ames; was also mayor in 1897-98. Died 9/15/1953 at age 84.
