This photo shows the Robert Cairns house on the east side of Douglas between Tenth and Eleventh Street (1006 Douglas). The house still stands today, but the porch has been removed and a new exterior was added. The Cairns came to Ames in 1883 and travelled for a dry goods wholesaler. The photo is from an 1897 souvenir edition of the "Intelligencer."
