Built in 1879, the K.W. Brown residence as it was pictured in the 1897 souvenir edition of the "Intelligencer." It was remodelled in 1918, and the house today (1011 Kellogg Avenue) is an apartment complex. Bricks for this house (as for most homes in Ames) were made by John Cole at a nearby kiln. Lumber used was especially selected "knot-free."
