Railroad station at Osborne around 1900. The Milwaukee Road once passed by this depot. All the little towns in Iowa had railroad service until about 1970. Osborne is in Clayton County in northeast Iowa and is about halfway between Strawberry Point and Elkader on Highway 13 near the Volga River. This depot replaced the orginial one that burned in 1880. The building with the cupola in the background of the photo was used as an advertisement for cupolas. After the Milwaukee Road ceased its operation in this area, no railroad service was available. The depot was moved to Osborne Conservation Park to be used as an historical exhibit. (This print shows more on the left side and less on the right than 224.1283.1 and 224.1284.1-4.)
