This view of the Zenorsville mine operations was taken in latter days of its existence, probably around 1905. View is probably at the entrance to one of the slant shafts that opened onto bottom lands at the foot of the hill bordering the Squaw Creek's west bank. Located about a quarter of a mile south of the country road that runs west from Gilbert. Note the horse-drawn coal wagon under the timber cover at left. On a marginal basis, coal was being removed from several such slant shafts as late as the early 1930s. (Photo courtesy of J. Howard Clemens)
