Kalsem's Hotel, located on the east side of Main Street in Huxley, Iowa. Note the pillars in the front of the hotel and the sign over the sidewalk (HOTEL AND CAFE). Built in the late 1800s by Faltin Kalsem, it was successfully operated for a period of years by Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, parents of Emerhoff Peterson, who later owned Emerhoff's Footwear at 219 (then, 215) Main Street in downtown Ames.
