This is the inside of the tabernacle built in Marshalltown, Iowa, to house Billy Sunday's evangelical crusade. According to the writing on the photograph, the meeting shown here was on May 2 (no year given, but the date of the Marshalltown campaign has been verified as taking place in 1909) and the man, identified as Charlie Butler, standing on the stage at the left with his back to the camera is singing. The photograph was taken by C. U. Williams. It is part of the collection of the Iowa Historical Society in Des Moines, Iowa. (See also: 101.549.3 and 101.550.4)
