In order to control the dust on unpaved roads during dry times, Ames employed a watering wagon to dampen the street. Here is one (in the left of the photo) proceeding east down the north side of Onondaga (Main). The interurban streetcar is in center of photo. The streetcar began service in Ames in 1907. Onondaga was paved and renamed in 1910; so photo was taken sometime in between. (See also: 156.865.4)
