The Lynn Morris Livery located at 107 Main Street. In addition to his livery business, Lynn Morris was with the Ames Fire Department for 42 years (32 as Chief). He retired in 1942 and died 2/24/52. His livery was located on the north side of Main Street immediately west of the Ames Hotel at the Duff corner (where today -1994- stands "One Man's Junk." Main Street boasted two liveries in those days with Lynn's brother, Frank Morris operating the other at Kellogg and Main (site of the Sheldon Munn Hotel after 1914). Prior to 1900 the livery shown in this photo was operated by George Nichols. The last livery operating in Ames ceased business in 1918.(See also:145.796.1-3)
