This was the primary hotel in Maxwell, Iowa, operated by Jesse and Molly Bowen. Located on the east side of the business street and within a block of the Milwaukee Road railroad depot. The Bowens had previously operated their hotel in Iowa Center, Iowa, three miles north of Maxwell.
