Members of a work party from First Baptist Church pose on the back porch and storm cellar of the K. W. Brown house after lunch on the day of their new church building's dedication in 1911. Sitting on the lowest step of the porch is Kendrick Wade Brown (1842-1926), grandfather of Farwell T. Brown. K. W. Brown's wife, Margaret Mitchell Brown (1860-1946), sits on the top step on the right (with a child on her lap). This is one of the many photographs documenting the history of First Baptist Church in Margaret Brown's family album. Her father, Rev. S. H. Mitchell, was the first minister of the church, from 1870 to 1875. Rev. Walter I. Fowle, the contemporary minister of First Baptist when the new building was constructed, is the man with the coffee cup, standing on the porch on the inside of the column to the left. Rev. Fowle served from 1904 to 1911.
