The Sigma Nu Fraternity was founded at the Virginia Military Institute on January 1, 1869. The Iowa State College chapter was organized on April 23, 1904. Members of the chapter lived in this house (the original home of George G. and Lydia Cooper Tilden) until about 1913. Shown here in front of the house in about 1911 was a social event that included members, girl friends, alumni and their spouses and friends. Henry Eichling is third from left in the top row. Galen Tilden, son of George and Lydia Tilden, is at the far right in the top row. His wife, Ina Morphy Tilden, is fourth from the right in the next-to-the top row.
