James "Tama Jim" Wilson, once head of Iowa State College's agricultural division, was granted official leave in 1897 to become the nation's first Secretary of Agriculture, a position he held for 16 years. He is shown in this photo at his ISC homecoming on March 12, 1913 when he was received by college president Raymond A. Pearson.
