Looking north down Sheldon Avenue, railroad cars and two horse-drawn wagons are seen on the right and a streetcar heading south is coming into view in the center of the photograph. The streetcar tracks had been extended south on the east side of Sheldon Avenue as far as the West Gate of the Iowa State College campus in 1912 and further south to Knapp Street in 1916.
