The Rev. Henry K. Hawley in around 1926. Hawley was a graduate of the theological seminary at Oberlin College and came to the Ames Congregational Church in 1915 from Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Hawley occupied the Ames pulpit until his retirement in 1935. He was a very popular speaker and was often quoted in the "Des Moines Register" as well as the local Ames papers. After his retirement, Rev. Hawley and his wife spent the rest of their years in Florida. (See also: 91.482.1-4; 91.483.5; and 93.503.1-2)
