North Star School when it stood on corner of Hoover and Twenty-Fourth Street. City of Ames bought this site which it used for constuction of water tower (still standing, but no longer in use). North Star School in Franklin Township was one of the last one-room schoolhouses in use in the Ames area. The district joined the Ames schools and the site was acquired by the city in 1959. Building was moved and became part of a residence. (See also: 129.708.4-5)
