Looking west down Main Street from the Douglas Avenue corner, showing the north side of the street. At the right in the photo is the Tilden Store which sold everything from groceries and clothes to carpets and haircuts. The Union National Bank is to the right of Tilden's. George Tilden had built the original brick Tilden building in 1890 at the same time Wallace M. Greeley built the bank building. In 1916 and 1917, the store and the bank were both remodeled. Since then, both exteriors have been maintained with a common appearance. (See also 95.514.3-4)
