Walter L. Foster (1883-1934) taught surveying in the civil engineering department of Iowa State College from 1920 through 1934. He was also on the summer faculty from 1924 through 1933. Walter and his wife, Lucy S. Foster (1888-1981), lived at 1107 Duff Avenue in a house that had originally been owned by Ames pioneer D. A. Bigelow. That house was razed in the 1950s to make room for Mary Greeley Hospital's expansion. (See also: 140.774.1)
