The old Central Junior High School was located between 5th and 6th Streets on the west side of Clark Avenue. It is shown here in July, 1937, being torn down to make way for the new Ames High School. Excavation for the basement of the new building has begun in the foreground. Opened in the fall of 1939, that building was converted to the Ames City Hall (opened in 1990).
