Farwell T. Brown is shown relaxing in the cabin he built on the Skunk River north of Ames on the farm owned by his father, Harry Farwell Brown. Farwell Brown, at the time of this photograph, was a scoutmaster of Ames Troop 3 at the Congregational Church and with the help of some of the older boys in the troop, he built this one-room structure. The two windows in the cabin were in the west wall facing the river. This was the site of a number of overnight scout outings.
