 
Celina Beranger Brekke, in the 1960s toward the end of her life, with her daughter Jeanette Brekke Shickell in Nevada, Iowa.  As a child, Celina had ridden the so called "Orphan Train" from New York City to the middlewest to begin a new life as a foster child with various families in Illinois and in Roland and Ames, Iowa.  Her story is told by Carol Kenealy in Appendix B of Farwell T. Brown's 2003 book, "Ames in Word and Picture; Book Three:  Tales from Two Old-Timers."
