Margaret Sharp sitting in a rocker in her log cabin home in about 1980. The Sharp cabin, located to the north and a little to the east of Huxley, Iowa, was one of two log cabins left standing at the time of this picture. This cabin was built in 1854 by Story County pioneer Andrew Bard. Margaret Sharp, his granddaughter, lived in the cabin from 1901 until her death in 1981. The cabin is gone now [2005]. Some of the contents, including the loom used by Margaret Sharp and her ancestors, were used to furnish the Bauge log cabin, restored by the Ames Heritage Association and moved to McFarland Park. The original site of the Bauge cabin was about a half a mile from the Sharp cabin. The restored Bauge cabin was destroyed by vandals in March of 2004.
