Demolition of George Hultz house (childhood home of Gladys Hultz Meads, compiler of oral history of Ames, At the Squaw and the Skunk) in 1984. House stood on west side of street (507 Grand). Originally this brick veneer house was owned by Lucian Q. Hoggatt (Ames pioneer who in 1861 deeded land for first schoolhouse in the area). House was built in the 1870s and was razed in 1984 to make way for construction of north part of the Pyle Office Park.
