Undergrowth in the Wittemberg Cemetery, north of Newton, Iowa. On July 10, 1987, aided by Lawrence Hammerly of the Wittemberg Congregational Church, a group of members of the Ames Congregational Church, discovered among this brush, the broken tombstones of the Rev. John White, who helped found the Ames church in 1865, and his daughter Mary. Hammerly had discovered the unbroken tombstone of Rev. White's wife Jane E. White.
