Shows dark area where the original Chicago & North Western Railroad depot had been located on Main (Onondaga) Street west of Duff and south of the railroad tracks. Photograph was taken on July 20, 1989, by Ames city employee Gary Moore after the structure had been razed. Photograph was taken either from the air or from a high point in the Ames light plant in the east (bottom) of photo. Ames's first depot was in operation from 1865-1901. It was torn down in May or June of 1989. Directly behind where the old station was located can be seen the Dutch Oven Bakery. Photograph was taken by former City of Ames employee Gary W. Moore who worked at the light plant. (See also: 227.1303.5)
