Make an appointment for your 30-minute pickup window through our event calendar.

Be sure to place all of your holds by 8am the day before your appointment so staff can gather and prepare them!

  1. The day before your Curbside Holds Pickup appointment, library staff will gather the items you have on hold and check them out to your account.
  2. Your items will be bagged and placed on a table in front of Ames Public Library before your pickup window.
  3. When you arrive, be sure to maintain 6 feet of social distance from others. Masks are also recommended by health officials.
  4. When it is safe to approach the table, look for a bag labeled with the first 3 letters of your last name followed by the first letter of your first name.
  5. Take your items home and enjoy your items until the due dates listed on your receipt. (Some of these may be later than usual during the Library's closure.)

Library staff check your items out to your account and bag them up the day before your appointment. That way, your items are ready to grab and go at your curbside appointment.

Please return items in the drive up drop box in the alley behind the Library (preferred), or in the drop box just south of the Library's entrance.

If you have oversize items, puppets, or other items that should not go in the regular drop box, you may return them in the labelled bin at your Curbside Holds Pickup appointment. Otherwise, you may continue to hold onto them until we reopen the Library building.

Pedestrians and bicyclists are welcome to use Curbside Holds Pickup! When you sign up for an appointment, please note your transportation method instead of the make and color of vehicle.

Please practice social distancing as you approach the Curbside Holds Pickup area.

Your holds will remain available until after we reopen.

If you don't need some of your held items anymore, call (515) 239-5646 ext. 2 or e-mail circ@amespubliclibrary.org

Library staff are following current safety recommendations, including wearing masks and practicing social distancing with other staff as well as customers, washing hands with soap frequently, and disinfecting work spaces.

Library materials are quarantined for 72 hours after being returned.

If you have another question, please call (515) 239-5646 ext. 2 or e-mail circ@amespubliclibrary.org.
