Purpose of Meeting

Monthly meeting of ASIP. Representatives come from over 10 Ames congregations, including 3 different faith groups. We greatly appreciate the chance to meet on "neutral" grounds. Our activity targets: 1) Undocumented and asylum seeking immigrants; 2) congregations--to educate and correct misinformtion about sanctuary and the new sanctuary movement; and 3) the Ames community--for better understanding and support. Judicial discretion in sentencing decisions can be influenced where community support can be demonstrated.
