- Kitten’s First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes
This black and white board book received the Caldecott Medal, is a New York Times Best Illustrated book, as well as a winner of the Charlotte Zolotow Award. This book features simple black and white illustrations of a cat, but they are beautiful. This is a longer board book, and describes all of the things that the kitten does on her first full moon. Although this book is black and white, it is sure to gain the attention of your child with the creative and entertaining illustrations.
